Who We Are

Together, Wayne and Isabel Berry are Berry Builders. Wayne and Isabel offer 40 years of combined experience in both the residential and commercial construction industry and have built numerous homes and commercial buildings in the surrounding area of Columbia, SC since opening their business. As degreed engineers, Wayne and Isabel offer a unique technical background that allows them to provide tailor-made solutions for design, giving you the confidence you need
throughout the entire construction process.

Our Team

Wayne Berry

Owner

Wayne Berry is a licensed general contractor and has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of South Carolina.

Prior to launching Berry Builders, Wayne spent 22 years working at South Carolina Electric & Gas where he wrote many Construction Standards for Electrical Utility Facilities. Through this experience, he has become extremely well versed with both commercial and residential building codes. During his tenure at SCE&G, he also managed the procurement department where he developed a new skillset of developing cost cutting initiatives, and has been able to apply those skills to his personal business, which ultimately helps benefit his clients!

The only thing stronger than the dedication to his work is the cleverness he brings to each project and client. As we all realize, building something new (whether it’s a new home or a new commercial building) can be stressful. But using his wit and humorous charm, Wayne is able to make every phase of each project both educational and fun!

Isabel Berry

Owner

Isabel Berry holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina. Prior to launching Berry Builders, Isabel held many roles in commercial construction with various companies: She’s held positions as a Construction Engineering Consultant, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Health Care Facility Inspector, and a licensed Fire Marshall Inspector. She’s applied her construction knowledge in various sectors with major health care companies, insurance companies, and environmental agencies. She has managed numerous commercial construction projects over the span of her career with an accumulated value of over $450M. She has seen and done it all!

Originally from Caracus, Venezuela, Isabel speaks both Spanish and English which gives her the ability to bring worlds of people together from her clients to her sub-contractors.

Her strong desire for construction is only matched by the passion she has for her clients. She cares about each client and each house as if she was building her own. Isabel brings a lot to the table and is truly the complete package!
